Pediatric Chiropractic in Boulder

Kids’ bodies are constantly growing and changing. From learning to crawl and walk to sitting at school, playing sports, and navigating teenage growth spurts, each stage brings different physical demands.

At Network Wellness Center, Dr. Daniel Knowles, Dr. Richelle Knowles, Dr. Jeff Parham, and Dr. David Bell all provide gentle pediatric chiropractic care in Boulder for babies, growing children, and teens. We assess each child’s spine and nervous system and provide age-appropriate care when chiropractic is suitable.

NEW PATIENTS

Why Do Parents Bring Their Children to a Chiropractor?

Parents bring their children to us for many different reasons, including:

  • Back or neck discomfort
  • Postural concerns
  • Spinal stiffness or mobility concerns
  • Sports-related strains
  • Musculoskeletal stress following everyday bumps and falls
  • Physical changes during growth spurts
  • General spinal wellness evaluations

Every child is evaluated individually. If your child’s needs fall outside the scope of chiropractic care, we’ll let you know and can help direct you to another healthcare professional when appropriate.

Chiropractic Care from Babies to Teens

A baby’s needs are very different from a teenager’s, and their chiropractic care should be different too.

Infants and toddlers go through rapid physical development as they learn to sit, crawl, walk, and run. School-age children may encounter postural demands from desks, backpacks, and devices, while young athletes place additional demands on their growing bodies.

Our chiropractors consider your child’s age, development, activities, health history, and current concerns when evaluating their spine.

Gentle, Age-Appropriate Adjustments

Pediatric chiropractic isn’t simply an adult adjustment performed on a smaller person. The amount of force and way care is delivered are adapted to the child’s size, age, and needs.

Our team uses gentle approaches, including NetworkSpinal®, which involves light, specific contacts along the spine. Care is tailored to the individual child rather than using the same approach for everyone.

Pediatric Assessments and Technology

We use non-invasive assessment technology with children as well as adults, including pediatric settings designed for younger practice members. We can also reassess children over time as they grow and their needs change.

These findings are considered alongside your child’s history and physical evaluation when determining whether chiropractic care is appropriate.

Meet Our Pediatric Chiropractors

All four of our chiropractors care for children, from babies through the teenage years.

Drs. Daniel and Richelle Knowles each bring decades of chiropractic experience and extensive experience with NetworkSpinal. Dr. Richelle also studied pediatric chiropractic during chiropractic college and has cared for some practice members from their first days of life through adulthood.

Dr. Jeff Parham has practiced chiropractic since 1986 and has more than 20 years of experience with NetworkSpinal. Dr. David Bell has additional pediatric chiropractic training, including certification through the PX program and study in Sacro Occipital Technique® (SOT®) and pediatrics through the PEAK Performance Institute.

That range of experience allows our team to tailor care to each child’s age, development, and individual needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age can a child see a chiropractor?

Children can be evaluated at different ages, from infancy through the teenage years. Care recommendations are tailored to the child’s age, size, development, and individual needs.

Are pediatric adjustments the same as adult adjustments?

No. Techniques and force are modified for a child’s smaller, developing body. NetworkSpinal also uses light contacts along the spine.

What happens at my child’s first visit?

We’ll discuss your child’s health history, development, activities, and any concerns you’ve noticed. The chiropractor will then perform an age-appropriate evaluation and determine whether chiropractic care is suitable.

Do you see teenagers too?

Yes. Teenagers may experience postural strain, growth-related changes, sports demands, and other musculoskeletal concerns that warrant evaluation.

Chiropractic Care for Growing Bodies

From infancy through the teenage years, children’s bodies undergo remarkable growth and change. Our goal is to provide an age-appropriate approach at every stage.
