Whether you get fully into the Halloween and Fall Pumpkin tradition and have an annual trip to the local pumpkin patch or you’re just trying to find one in the local supermarket there are tips and tricks to finding the best, long lasting pumpkin for your home.
When you pick a perfect pumpkin you could have it still bright and orange all the way to Thanksgiving – so picking the right one is worth your time and effort to keep your home filled with fall feeling as long as possible.
Try to choose the pumpkin with the most orange, ones with green, even if it’s only a speckle, aren’t fully ripe and they most likely won’t ripen any further once they it your porch
If you’re making a pumpkin recipe (check out our Pumpkin Pie recipe!) then smaller pumpkins are best for cooking where as medium size pumpkins should be used for decorations and carving. Try not to pick up the pumpkin by the stem, it can effect the whole look of the pumpkin, and we wouldn’t want that!
Most importantly, remember, please, please, do not try and pick up a pumpkin that is too large or too heavy for your back! Let’s protect our backs this fall and treat them well.
