It’s that time of year again: the “New Year, New You” time of year. Everyone will tell you that they have the solution to creating a “new you”. In fact, you are probably being bombarded with “solutions” from every side. Some of that advice is great and useful, but some of it won’t do you any good.
Stay Away From “Solutions” That Simply Don’t Work
People are encouraged by the media to look outside themselves for answers. You have to criticize yourself, change who you are, become “better”, change your looks, your perfume, or your clothes.
You want something to make you feel better, to help you evolve, and the media will tell you exactly what you have to do and what products you have to buy to help you.
But are these “solutions” really what you need?
Have you pushed yourself to become what other people define as “good”? Is there a new type of jeans on the market? Well, you need to buy them because you don’t want others to think that you don’t have good taste. Is there a tradition that you don’t really like? Well, you don’t have a choice, you have to take part it in to gain the acceptance of others. While this might work well for a while, if you keep at it long enough, you may discover at some point that you have lost your true self and you don’t really feel happy.
Focus on Yourself, Not the Negativity
Instead of paying attention to all this negativity, here’s what I’d like you to do this year: look inside yourself and see how good you actually are. You don’t need anyone to tell you what to do and what to wear; you are already a wonderful human being. You have your own ideas, your own preferences, and you don’t need to follow any unwritten rules just to fit in. Scientists, anatomists, and artists believe that your body is magnificent the way it is, and you can do amazing things without even knowing it.

There is no problem that you can’t solve with your own healing capacity. The answer is not in your appearance or the way you look, but in yourself. Change the way you think about yourself and you will discover that suddenly you can solve any problem with your infinite abilities. When you feel sad, frustrated, or upset it’s not because something happened to you, but how you choose to respond to the situation, not necessarily seeing the lesson it in all as well as not seeing your internal strength and healing capacity. You can deal with anything. You can find your true self and improve your feelings of happiness and you don’t need any outside help; better accessing your resources and increasing your resourcefulness or internal strategies is where the true solutions lie.
Instead of judging yourself, think about how powerful, capable, and strong you are. When you stop thinking about what’s happening on the outside, you will have time to release your power and energy and maximize your positivity.
