What does a light switch have to do with your health and your life? Everything! For my wife, Dr. Richelle Knowles, DC, and me at the Network Family Wellness Center in Boulder, Colorado, the light switch holds particular significance. Over the past 18 years, it’s been an honor and privilege to serve the Boulder community through Network Chiropractic Care. Helping people change their lives is an incredible calling. It truly is gratifying to witness the amazing changes that occur for practice members in their health and in their lives on a daily basis.
When we constructed the office 18 years ago, I went to McGuckin’s Hardware in Boulder looking for light switches. I selected some that had dimmer switches that allowed the light to move up and down and allowed different amounts of energy to flow through the wiring. The switches reminded me of the way that people’s nervous systems either allows their bodies to increase the capacity to coordinate their health and well-being or to diminish them. Just think how that comparatively small light switch controls all that energy that flows to the lights!
You see, in life, most people tend to think it’s the big stuff that impacts us. But really, it’s the little physical, chemical, and emotional changes that happen day in and day out that slowly dim our lights and impact our bodies functions. Then, like a frog boiling in water, we don’t realize how much we’ve lost our health, vitality, and well-being.
Practice members often wonder and ask how a little light, non-invasive touch can make a such big difference in the way their bodies feel and function. Well, it’s really quite simple! The path to greater function is not a drastic, large impact. It’s not a big change that has to happen or a large improvement that has to be made. It’s the little, slight adjustments, done one after the other, that create the large shifts in feeling and function. It works that way in spinal health, and it works that way in almost everything you do in life. It’s the light touches of Network Chiropractic over a period of time that bring more health, energy and vitality to every cell of your body! It’s the little things done consistently over time that build a successful business. It’s the little things you do for your significant other over time that make a successful relationship. It’s the little chunks of time you spend with your children that help them become successful adults. Yes, little things really do mean a lot!
The next time you’re in the office at Network Family Wellness, check out the dimmer switches, and enjoy the reminder that little things mean a lot and accomplish a lot! Take that lesson and apply it in your life.
