Holiday Reminder: It’s What’s on the Inside That Counts

As we’re going into the holiday season, there tends to be a lot of fun and revelry around what’s happening on the outside. I truly enjoy seeing all the holiday decorations, lights and of course, the different types of holiday food and spending time with family and love ones and hopefully a little bit of down time with those that you care about.

 

With all the glitz and commercialism, we tend to shift our focus on everything external instead of what’s going on in the heart of the holiday season and it’s really the meaning of the season that is most important. I have noticed the same thing in taking care of patients. We tend to, as a culture, when it comes to our health and well-being, look outside of ourselves. Look at our external circumstance or external expression of symptoms, the things that we don’t like and our experience of surroundings and tend to blame areas outside of ourselves or things that we have no control over. Things such as outside stresses, genetics, and things passed down from family, other people around us, as the cause to our problems.

 

This leaves us feeling disempowered, helpless and stuck…

 

While certainly at times external factors can be involved; I find that when it comes to health and healing, just like with the holidays, it’s just what’s inside that matters most. Disease is not the entity.  Health is the entity and strengthening our health and well-being, strengthening our adaptability, flexibility, responsiveness, resilience, brings us an increased quality life in our physical state, emotional state, ability to enjoy life more than chasing symptoms and conditions.

 

We talk about people having an inborn wisdom or innate intelligence. This innate intelligence that we have in our core is always 100%, always striving to keep us at our best.  This is why Chiropractic focuses on what is inside and your body’s ability to heal and adapt by maximizing the strength, health and alignment of the spine.

 

Focus on removing the interferences or blockages from you functioning at your best and everything outside you will start to take on a different lump, shape, and meaning because it’s what’s inside that count.
