I know it is hard to imagine but not everyone who calls our office becomes one of our patients. Day 1: Comprehensive Intake Assessment
The initial exam and two followup visits allow us to further our knowledge and understanding of your brain-body connection. We start with a complete, whole spine evaluation to discover how your body’s inner workings can be affecting your health and why.
After an in depth interview, where we discuss and review your body systems, we perform a comprehensive spinal assessment including spinal, physical, postural and of course neurological evaluations. It is important to have knowledge of all your body systems and how they are working with each other. Only then can we begin to get a complete picture of your overall health and brain-body connection.
Have you been told by your doctor that nothing seems to be wrong?
There is a chance you could have a functional abnormality in your nervous system. This is essentially an operating system gone wrong. It typically does not show up on a conventional neurology examination, MRI, CT, etc. due to its subtlety. We employ certain evaluation techniques, which allow us to “see” the problem more clearly as it exists, functionally.
Adverse mechanical spinal cord and neurological tension testing is part of our chiropractic assessment. This is used to help us find neurologically based muscle, nerve and bone tension patterns and how they relate to your presenting state such as back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, headaches, various pain syndromes, depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, headaches, brain injury, and much more.
Some of the evaluation techniques we utilize are:
- Surface electromyography
- Computerized Thermography
- Weight balance distribution
- Moving postural study
- Heart Rate Variability
- Facilitaitive pattern palpation
- Motion palpation
- Flexion and lateral flexion adverse cord and connective tissue assessment
As you can see, the comprehensive chiropractic intake exam is just that – comprehensive!
Expect this appointment to take up to 1 hour. Depending on your presenting condition, we may recommend additional testing, for further investigation into your condition.
Day 2. Review Your Results and Individualized Care Plan
After your initial assessment, we will gather the information you’ve given us with your results to create a personalized course of care moving forward.
If the doctor finds any loss of spinal health, which is causing concerns that you know about or don’t’ know about, you will be asked to schedule a special follow-up appointment to review your results with Drs. Knowles, D.C.
- The current state of your spinal health.
- How it’s affecting your overall health right now.
- What the initial requirements are for being accepted as a patient.
- Fees in your individual case.
For those reasons it is highly recommended to have your spouse or significant other with you to review your results and help support you in your decision-making and to reach your health care goals.
After reviewing your case, the doctor will let you know if you are a candidate for care and share a thorough explanation of care recommendations and the action steps you need to take to obtain the results you desire.
This plan may include additional follow-up testing. We’ll provide a review of your results, lay out our proposed care plan and work with you to review your care and financial options.
We truly are a category of one in that we are one of the very rare places in the world that actually looks at all aspects of your spinal health. Our approach is not “hocus pocus”, we provide evidenced based results you can measure, and experience.
Congratulations on taking the first steps to creating true wellness from within!
